ADHD Affirming Therapy for Adults
Exhausted by the never-ending wrestling match with your own brain?
Living with ADHD makes life complicated. To many of my clients, it feels like swimming upstream in a current that pulls in fifteen different directions at once. It’s exhausting—and it’s often invisible to the people around you.
In close to a decade of work, I’ve come to realize that many mental health professionals—even very good ones—aren’t well-versed in ADHD. I know this because I was one of them. The standard play book of “just try harder” or “build better habits” doesn’t account for the way ADHD brains actually work.
You might be a fit for ADHD-affirming therapy if you:
Were diagnosed years ago but never got real support beyond medication
Were diagnosed recently and are still making sense of what it means
Suspect you have ADHD and are tired of being told (or telling yourself) that you just need more discipline
Are exhausted from masking, code-switching, or holding everything together
Have a mind that is always “on” and struggle to slow down
Are tired of feeling like you are failing at things other people seem to do effortlessly
How can I help?
I work with adults to understand how their brain and nervous system actually function—and to build a way of living that works with that wiring rather than against it. We’ll look at executive function, emotional regulation, relationships, and the layers of shame and self-criticism that come with a lifetime of being misread. The goal isn’t to “fix” you. It’s to help you become more of yourself, more comfortably.
If you are already working with a therapist who’s a good fit but lacking in ADHD-specific experience, I’m also happy to provide adjunctive ADHD support.
